From the Framer's Table

I would like to welcome you to my blog for Cornerstone Custom Picture Framing and Gallery. As a framer and gallery owner I get to see such interesting artwork everyday, and would love this chance to share some of it with you. Also, I hope this will bring awareness to the art and craft of the framing process itself and give you ideas of how to frame your own special artwork and memorabilia.

A Charming Woodcut Print

I'm always excited to see woodcut prints come in the shop for framing. This one, entitled "Winter Poems" is only about 5"x7" in size. When you stop for a moment and examine the artwork up close you enter a miniature world of exquisite detail and charm. The customer chose to float-mount the piece so the deckled edges of the hand-made paper would show, and then I recessed the artwork at the back of the frame. A beautiful linen mat outlines the piece, and it is finished with a frame with carved detail, and anti-reflective glass so not to lose one detail! This little woodcut print is a gem - who says bigger is always better?!
